Mary Shelley (30 Aug 1797 to 1 Feb 1851) wrote the classic Frankenstein: Or, the Modern Prometheus (1818 text) to show humankind the benefits and dangers of human nature. Shelley died 165 years ago today, yet her writings still provide fuel to the adaptive human spirit. This is the power of literature – to span the years of thought with value.
